what we believe...
vision statement
Elevating
Life in the disability family. purpose statement “We are a family of individuals extending Christ's love to the disability family through faith and friendship.”
It is our mission to lead in connecting the disability family through a network of interactive media initiatives, innovative family support programs, and life learning modules.
our founders Eleos – The Care Network, Inc. was founded in 1998 by Jim & Rhonette Hukill. At the age of twenty months Jim's family was informed that he had a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy and that they should expect a life of limitations. However, today many of those restrictions are now far behind him....
history Before their marriage in May 1994, Jim and Rhonette Hukill began to explore available services that would assist them in developing a strong foundation for their marital future. After much research, the Hukill's were deeply disappointed in the resources available. The Hukill's were alarmed at the number of broken homes within the disability community; 80% of families that encounter disability issues break up, and disability impacts 20% of the American population. This shocking discovery led them to launch Eleos, a ministry of hope, in November 1998. Eleos embraces individuals who are confronting the traditional limits of a disability. Through a suite of innovative ministry programs, Eleos empowers individuals and families with the understanding that they are contributors and not just recipients of care. They are developing a compassionate community poised to elevate their culture and this generation with a statement of hope.
"...because of the tender mercy ("eleos" -Greek word) of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace." (Luke 1:78,79 NIV) |
